
In Bengaluru, a notorious criminal known for robbing travelers on the Bengaluru-Tumakuru national highway and other areas was shot in the leg by Dobbaspet police. The individual, identified as Jayanath, also known as Battery Jayantha, is a 26-year-old resident of Alur village in Kanakapura taluk, Ramanagara district. Earlier in July, Jayanath and two accomplices attacked a truck driver with daggers near Billanakote of Nelamangala taluk, injuring the driver and stealing his mobile phone and Rs 3,500. In August, Jayanath stole an iPhone in Peenya, but was later tracked down by the victim using the Find My Mobile app with police assistance. When located near Gittigerepalya Cross on the Dobbaspet-Ramanagara highway, Jayanath attempted to flee, attacking constables with a dagger. Despite warnings, police fired at his leg, leading to his hospitalization. Jayanath, with a criminal history including 51 cases of various offenses, began committing crimes as a minor. A case of attempted murder under BNS Section 109 and the Arms Act has been registered against him based on inspector Raju's complaint.
